I woke up around 5 am thinking about my father. My dad passed away March 10, 2019. For anybody who knows me personally and witnessed the relationship with my father and I would tell you that my father was my hero. There was a movie that he and I loved to watch called “Meet Joe Black” with Anthony Hopkins and Brad Pitt. My dad wasn’t the crying type, but this movie moved him. There was a line in that movie that he would quote to me that I would occasionally change around to say to him and it was, “I loved you from the moment I was born, I love you now and every moment in between.”
Yes, this man was my hero. My relationship with him established many of my values in terms of love, family and a few other life categories. When I decided to finally step out and go through the course to become a coach one of the topics was legacy. “How do you want to be remembered?” This question made me remember my father saying, “Your life should be a written epistle.” I remember my dad’s incredible ability to forgive, his wisdom, his willingness to impart that wisdom, and most importantly his heart of giving. How he is being remembered was the legacy he wanted to leave.
Legacy is not only how much money you leave or the tangible things you leave behind. A legacy can also be the intangible things like character. How are we being remembered? What story does our lives tell? What will people say about us? What did we impart to others? What impact did we make in this world?
Understanding your design and fulfilling your purpose inevitably establishes your legacy. We are all unique in our design and purpose. Everyone’s life’s purpose is to Serve, Save and Solve. What does that mean? We were all created to serve someone, to save someone and there is a problem that only we are meant to solve. The courage to understand and fulfill that purpose is all up to you. The power of discovery is right now and waiting for you. Those destiny moments or fated moments good and bad were preparing you for your purpose. Those destiny moments designed you and shaped you for your purpose. Don’t waste any more time, the power of your purpose lies in the power of your choice!
