Green Eyes

A while ago I struggled with insecurity. I thought I knew who I was and what I wanted out of life but felt like I needed to hide my dreams, ideas and ambitions out of fear of someone stealing it. While speaking with others, it amazed me how common my practices were. There is nothing more frustrating than sharing your dreams or ideas with someone who takes them and lives them out as their own. Even worse, they live it better than you or obtain it before you do! This perception created an insecurity and it also birthed something uglier… envy.

Envy and jealousy are character flaws that nobody wants to acknowledge but the lack of acknowledgement poisons the mind. It blinds and distorts perception. It steals peace. It twists truth and corrupts the heart. In turn, inauthenticity develops because now you are competing with a perception and losing yourself in the war of identity.

I am a person that believes in self-reflection so when I acknowledged that I was struggling with envy and jealousy I went to God about it to get rid of it. What I discovered was I didn’t actually know who I was. I was struggling with my identity. When you know who you are you realize that nobody can be you! Who you are should and will inspire others. There’s no need to fear, nobody can take what God gave or purposed to you! Your gifts are your gifts! Your passions are your passions! Your values are your values! Your design is your design and like a fingerprint, it’s one of a kind and belongs only to you.

Operating out of your own authenticity frees and restores your identity. Your design and purpose belong to you and you alone. Purpose is your authenticity and your passion entangled together. When I understood that, I no longer needed to compete or want to be anybody but me! In fact, I want to continue becoming a better version of myself! Self-awareness is key! Self identification unlocks your power! Your design produces the ability to unlock your purpose. Your purpose is all yours! All you have is all you need!
